Dear Dayton Oaks Families,

Wow!  What a fantastic day at Dayton Oaks.  Students worked together to make sure everyone completed the Dolfun Run, and it was amazing to see all the parents cheering students on and encouraging their efforts.  While this event is the largest  fundraiser for our PTA, it is also a wonderful opportunity to see our entire school working toward a common goal-completing the Fun Run together!  Well done to all our students and thank you for the partnership between the PTA and our school.  Lastly, a very special thank you to all our families for financially supporting this PTA event.  Whatever you were able to donate, we appreciate your investment in your school.  

Mix-it-Up day was this week.  Our wonderful counselor, Mrs. Dix organized an opportunity for students to sit with other students who have the same birthday month.  Students were also provided with questions on their tables to help to facilitate conversations between students.  It was great to see students connect with friends.  Everyone enjoyed the event!

Lastly, I wanted to take a moment to let our school community know about our first grade expansion.  We were recently provided with an additional first grade teacher.  Ms. Land is an enthusiastic and talented teacher, who graduated from Elon University.  She has been teaching at DOES since August and has been transitioning to first grade, getting to know the students.  She will be assuming her new class on October 22nd.  We know change can be challenging for students, and we appreciate the positive conversations families have been having with their first graders.  We are very excited about class size reductions this new teacher will create, and the success and learning your child will enjoy!
