On Deck with the Administrators

Thu, 01/24/2019 - 3:06pm

Dear Dayton Oaks Families,

The weather seems to be on everyone’s mind this time of the year.  We hope everyone managed to successfully dig out of our first big snowstorm of the winter.  During this time of the year, weather can be unpredictable at times.  Please continue to dress your child for colder weather conditions. Generally, students will have outdoor recess when the wind chill temperature is above 20 degrees.  School Administrators make the final decision based on a variety of factors.

Also, if the possibility of inclement weather exists or is forecast, the director of Pupil Transportation begins to review weather temperatures across the county at 2:45 a.m. using local and national weather service information.  Additional information regarding School Emergency/Weather Closings please refer to the following HCPSS information:
https://www.hcpss.org/schools/emergency-closings/

With the prospect of indoor recess, we are requesting any gently used board games, puzzles, legos, etc for our classrooms.  As you clean out closets or if your child has outgrown any games, etc, we will gladly put them to good use across all grades.  If you have any donations, please drop off in the front office.  Your consideration is appreciated.

Lastly, this year the HCPSS has built into the calendar two opportunities for parent/teacher conferences (November and February).  More information will be forthcoming regarding our conferences on February 14 & 15.  These conferences will focus on math, and while there are limited times for these conferences, we will be sending home parent resources to support your child in math.  We value your partnership in your child’s growth and learning all year long.

Have a lovely weekend!

Sincerely,

Nigel La Roche                Adrienne Williams-McKinney
