It was a great day on Wednesday, October 18, for the DolFun Run. The weather was beautiful, the students were excited and motivated to do their best, and we loved seeing all the parents lining the route, cheering on everyone. Students laughed, ran, and danced their way to the finish line, and who can forget the Dolphin “clap” song, which is now stuck in all our heads. Dayton Oaks is very fortunate to have such a caring and collaborative community. Thank you to our PTA for organizing this event, and thank you to all our wonderful parents for supporting school initiatives and programs.
This week, Dayton Oaks was also fortunate to have a guest visitor, Dr. Martirano, HCPSS Interim Superintendent. He was escorted throughout the school by four of our 5th grade mentors. He visited several classrooms and participated in activities with students. His enthusiasm, along with his love of learning and our students was contagious, and as one student said, “Dayton Oaks is fantabulous”. I agree. Dr. Martirano left the school with a very positive impression of our school. We were very proud!
We received a special thank you from a representative of our Food on the 15th community. We were provided with a box full of school supplies, as a thank you for providing Food on the 15th to residents in our areas. They are so appreciative. Dayton Oaks cares!
Next week, the warm weather we are now used to will shift to cooler temperatures, which means Halloween is getting closer. Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 31st, for our annual Costume Parade. It will be held beginning at 2:00 pm on the field. In the event of rain, we will not have a parade. More information will be forthcoming.
Lastly, as mentioned in our previous newsletter, this year we will be collecting candy after Halloween, as part of our Candy for the Courageous initiative. We are all so appreciative of our servicemen and women who serve overseas. This is one small way that we can make their day, by providing them with a small token of our appreciation. Please see the information in this newsletter.
We all hope you have a great weekend!
