DOES PTA will host Michael Rosman of Circus Stars for Dayton Oaks’ Artist-in-Education Program
Monday, November 13 – Friday, November 17 (American Education Week)

The Artists-in Education Program is a partnership between the Howard County Arts Council and local PTAs to place professional artists in residence at private and public K-12 schools to help foster students’ creative exploration.  It is funded in part by a grant from the Howard County Arts Council, through a grant from Howard County Government, the Maryland State Arts Council, the Columbia Foundation, and Target.
This year, Dayton Oaks PTA is a recipient of an Artists-in-Education grant.  As a result, from November 13 through November 17, Michael Rosman of Circus Stars will be working with the children at our school.
Mr. Rosman’s Circus Arts program emphasizes manipulation skills such as spinning plates, juggling balls, and balancing feathers/sticks.  The program kick-offs with student assemblies on Friday, November 10.  The following week, two artists will be embedded in students’ regular PE classes.  Students will see the circus arts skills demonstrated and then will get hands-on experience.
We encourage parents to visit during National Education Week and observe their child’s skills in their second PE class of the week.  This program will be held during students’ Related Arts time.

Special thanks to former DOES parent, Barb Ridenour, for submitting the successful Grant Application that brought this program to DOES.
