Dear Dayton Oaks Elementary School Families,

Welcome back! I hope that you are enjoying the last few weeks of summer.  The custodians and front office are working to prepare for another promising school year. Ms. Williams-McKinney and I are looking forward to a great school year.  With a year under my belt, I am excited for the many ways we will be engaging our entire school community, helping our students grow and thrive.  Your support, participation and partnership is key to the success of our school.  We hope to see you often throughout the year!

During this period of summer, people’s thoughts turn to preparing for the new school year.  Many of our staff have been working summer school, involved in curriculum writing or engaged in a variety of school-based meetings.  Engaging the community in decision-making is a key focus.  Our wonderful PTA has already been planning events for the year, including our PTA Ice Cream Social in September.  Their efforts and investment in the success of our school is incredible.  As we start the school year, we will be providing parents with many ways they can get involved in our school.

This new school year presents us all with opportunities to build on our current successes, as well as embrace change, which is inevitable. For the 2018-19 school year, we are welcoming the growth of our Primary Learner (PL) program.  We will be adding an additional PL classroom, as well as an Upper Learner (UL) class.  The PL and UL programs serve students with disabilities in our inclusive school environment, while providing self-contained services.  At Dayton Oaks Elementary we embrace all students who enter our front doors, with opportunities to build friendships, embrace differences and foster kindness. We give a warm welcome to all our new DOES families and friends! We look forward to partnering with all our families.

I look forward to seeing and meeting you all at our August Open House and our September Back to School events. Please be sure to stop by and say hello. Thank you to all who have helped in preparing for our new school year. Your commitment to our school community is awe-inspiring. It remains a privilege to serve as your principal.

Go Dolphins !!
