The mission of the PTA is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.  We would like to make sure that every family at Dayton Oaks feels welcome and included!  Please reach to out to our president, Ellen Sowry at president@daytonoakspta.org with any questions, ideas, or concerns you may have! Our next General Membership meeting will be held on November 28th. We hope you can join us!

Join the PTAGo to the membership link on our website: https://daytonoakspta.org/membership/ to print the form or join online using PayPal.

DolFun Run: A big thank you goes out to Carissa Bayer, Ginger Picker, Julie DuTremble, Jennifer Bush and all of the parent volunteers who helped to make the DolFun Run a success! We hope that your children enjoyed the run. We will be update everyone on the final fundraising results once they have been tallied!

DOES Student Directory:  Will be coming out next week with your child’s Thursday folder. There will be 1 directory issued per family.

PTA Waiver:  Thank you to all the families that completed their PTA  Waivers. This waiver is required to be completed once a year for each family and covers all PTA sponsored activities throughout the year including the upcoming Fall Festival!  If you haven't had a chance to complete this waiver, please do so ASAP.  It can be printed from our website at the following link: https://daytonoakspta.org/forms/

Box tops/cashback for schools 2018:  We had such great success that we decided to hold another drawing for all box tops collected during October and November.  Check out the updated October "Ghouls for Schools" Form on the PTA website under the “FORMS” tab .

Please turn in your completed Sheet (or put your box tops in a baggie and return) for a chance to win a DOES t shirt, gift cards and more!  One winner will be drawn from each grade!  The drawing will be held Friday November 30th! Please be sure to put your name, teacher, and grade on the form or on the baggie with your box tops. If you have any questions, please email: cashback@daytonoakspta.org

Coat Drive: While the weather has chosen a warm fall for Maryland, winter will be here before we know it.  So, we are asking for Dayton Oaks families to once again be generous in their donations of gloves, hats, and coats for those less fortunate.  A bin is in the school foyer until October 29th.  Please contact Gayle Gerdes at glpgerdes@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Fall Festival: Saturday, November 3, 4:00pm-6:00pm. It's that time of year again for our annual Fall Festival!  Don't miss out on the carnival games, obstacle course, face painting, and interactive science demonstration with hands-on experiments for the kids!

We're looking for a lot of volunteers to help make this an unforgettable experience for the whole family!  Please sign up for a short, 30-minute time slot: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090945A5AA29AAFB6-fall1

SMILE TRACKERS (GOLDEN SNEAKER WALK/RUN PROGRAM): We partnered with River Hill Giant to reward our students who have reached the 5 sMILEstone (10 laps). These students have been entered into a weekly drawing to win a free 12 oz. smoothie from Giant's new smoothie bar. All of our grades have made it out of Maryland with 2nd grade leading the pack into Ohio.  Ask your child or check out the map in the school's front lobby to see the progress.  Parent volunteers have been great, the scanning app seems to be a hit, and we are excited for next week! Want to get in on the action?  Come help and cheer for your child on Thursdays during their recess.  Take the opportunity to enjoy lunch with them beforehand/afterwards. Click here for more info or to get involved!

Food on the 15th: Thank you so much to everyone that donated and volunteered their time for the October Collection of Food on the 15th. The children that volunteered to help sort and bag the food all did a wonderful job. They really enjoyed knowing that what they were doing directly impacts people in need. Food on the 15th at Dayton Oaks would not be a success without your help! Please continue to send in non-perishable items with your children. The November delivery will be here before we know it! Contact Lorie Brewer at foodonthe15th@daytonoakspta.org with any questions.

PTACHC (PTA Council of Howard County): Did you know that our Dayton Oaks PTA is part of a larger, county-wide coalition called PTA Council of Howard County (PTACHC)? Its mission is to serve the 73 PTA groups of Howard County by creating a unified voice to advocate for children and education. The council meets monthly with members from each school to discuss important topics such as whether to expand various programs, such as JumpStart, which allows high school students to earn college credits while still in high school, overcrowding in our schools, and monitoring upcoming legislative issues that can impact our quality of education. For more information go the DOES PTA website and look up PTACHC.
