“There is no bad time to reflect and set new goals!” –GradePowerLearning.com

Through the month of November & December, students will be participating in classroom lessons focused on goal setting! In some grades, the goal is focused on a specific topic such as time management & for other grades, it is much broader. Either way, it’s a great time to set a goal! Here are a few tips to help with goal setting at home:
Start by focusing on a goal or goal-setting techniques your child already does such as planning ahead, practicing, or positive self-talk.
Ask your child how it felt when they accomplished something & relate that to upcoming challenges.
Sit down and review the recent report card together. Discuss successes and one or two areas for improvement. Use that discussion to set a goal together.
When setting the goal, be sure it is clear and measurable. What are the 5 steps you’ll have to do to make it happen? What roadblocks may appear? How can you work through them? How will you know when you reached your goal?
Engage in positive thinking often! If your child feels as thought they can meet the goal, they are more likely to!
