Dear Dayton Oaks Families,
The days are getting shorter and crisper, cooler days remind us that we are well into Fall. Having said that, Maryland’s climate is always full of surprises. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately each day for outside recess and other activities. Layering up is always a great way to allow for flexibility throughout the day and comfort for your child.
This past week, we were excited to host our Fall Math night. Students engaged in a multitude of math games, while families listened to our presenter, Mr. John SanGiovanni, Mathematics Coordinator, HCPSS provide an overview of changes to the way we support student learning in math and ways parents can support their child at home. A common theme was creating opportunities for children to “think”, with a focus not only on the procedural aspects of math, but also conceptual understanding and application of concepts. We are proud of the many ways our teachers are preparing students for careers of the future.
Have a great weekend!
