Memory Book Cover Contest- Submission Due Date Extended!
CALLING ALL DAYTON OAKS ARTISTS...
Your child has the opportunity to design the front & back cover of our 2024-2025 Memory Book! The Memory Book cover sets the tone for our yearbook and the design should represent our school's identity.
Some theme ideas: Watercolor Waves, The Year of the Dolphin, Making a Splash, It's a Dolphin Thing, Dolphinately Making Waves, Ride the Wave of Success.
Cover art requirements:
- Created on an 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper (Portrait layout)
- Include the words "Dayton Oaks Elementary School" big and bold
- Include the dates "2024-2025"
- Include your name and grade in the bottom right-hand corner
How to submit:
- Send the original to school in a folder or envelope marked "PTA Memory Book" with your child's name and grade written on the outside
- Email a clear scan to: memorybook@daytonoakspta.org
Submission Deadline: EXTENDED to Monday, May 5th
SMile Trackers
Who: All DOES 1st-5th Graders
When: Tuesdays in May during Recess
What: Be Active! Run/walk laps with friends
Why: To HAVE FUN and Be Healthy and Earn Prizes!
Students will earn a prize each week they participate and ALL students who finish 10 laps by the end of the 6th session will be recognized on the morning announcements and earn a reward.
Volunteers Needed: All DOES adult family members are encouraged to volunteer for one or more recesses to support our students remaining active and healthy. Sign up to volunteer here.

Ben Folds & Howard County Youth Orchestra at Merriweather May 18th
Ben Folds is coming to Merriweather Post Pavilion to perform with HCPSS students in the Howard County Youth Orchestra on May 18th... and you are invited!!!
Efforts are underway to make this an unforgettable night for our community and our schools. More details regarding ticket costs, distribution, and special promotions and activities will be shared soon, but in the meantime, please let us know HERE if you're interested in attending and sitting with fellow students at your school. If you have already purchased tickets, you are still encouraged to complete the interest form to receive information on activities and special promotions for students who attend.

Food on the 15th
Dayton Oaks Elementary PTA - Food on the 15th is collecting canned and/or non-perishable items all-year long and serving our local Howard County residents! Consider giving what you already have in your pantry and/or picking up a few items during your next grocery trip! Items can be dropped off anytime during school hours or the beginning/end of the school day, in the bins - located in the front lobby labeled “Food on the 15th”. Thank you for your continuous donations!

Ideas of items that you may donate (100% optional)
- Single serve container(s) (box, can, or bottle) of 100% juice
- Single serve canned, instant or shelf stable soup, stew, or casserole
- Canned meat or fish (tuna, ham, chicken) Individual serving of shelf
- Stable Milk or a can of evaporated milk
- Single serve cups or cans of fruits and vegetables
- Single serve cups of ready to eat pudding
- Single serve box of cold cereal or Single serve packet of instant hot cereal (oatmeal, cream of wheat)
- Single serve, sealed packet of dried fruits (apricots, prunes, etc.)
- Single serve packets or a small jar of peanut butter
- Single serve, sealed packets of crackers, cheese crackers, granola bars and/or snack bars
- You may also choose to add a treat or surprise like hot chocolate packets, individually wrapped tea bags or coffee and/or individually wrapped packs of cookies.
